Kind: The Perfect Name for this Healthy Snack Bar!

Just thought I'd take a minute to tell you about these, these deliciously wonderful snack bars are my favorite for a couple of reasons, they taste absolutely sinful (which in this case is a good thing!), they are filling, yet don't make you want to plead for mercy from an overload of sugar and carbs, and they are made with mostly healthy ingredients!  These are so good for on the go!  If you have a couple of children that need snacks in the middle of lunch and dinner like I did when I was a wee tot, but don't want to give them one of those snack bars that is entirely too inundated with sugar, high-fructose corn syrup, and all those other forms of junk out there, "Kind" is the way to go!

Learn Something New Every Day. (Ice Cream)

Wow, I love ice cream!  And for all of you who are asking right now, "then why don't you marry it."  My reply is...  Because I'm not old enough.  :P  (big joke in our family)

Alright, now on to the important part.  This post is for my good friend Rebecca, in remembrance of all the times that we snuck ice cream in the middle of the nigh, or... Come to think of it in the middle of the day too.  Remember when it got all over my pillow because Josiah came in when we were eating it?  Ya, good times.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy these few tidbits about ice cream.  :)

Seriously making me want some ice cream!!

1. Twelve gallons of milk is needed to make 1 gallon of ice cream.

2. 50 licks are required to finish off a cone with a single scope of ice cream.

3. Immigrants were served ice cream as part of their welcome meal at Ellis Island.

4. Air is the most important ingredient in ice cream as it is needed to keep the ice cream soft.

5. President Ronald Reagan declared July as national ice cream month in the United States.

6. More men (13%) admit to licking their ice cream bowl clean than women (8%)!

7. Kids aged 2-12 and adults over 45 eat the most ice cream!

8. The 3rd Sunday in July is National Ice Cream Day!

Thanksgiving.

Oh my, I am a little late in posting this but...  Oh well, you will just have to deal with it.

I thought that with this post I would write down a few things that I was thankful for since I didn't get to do it earlier.  So, this will be two posts very mixed and mingled into one, so much so that you wont be able to make out which post was supposed to be which.

So for thanksgiving we had oh so much food, and oh so much fun, and an oh so huge turkey, actually we had two huge turkeys.  It was yummy, it was fun, it was a lot of work, it was in short wonderful.  And man oh man, that tryptophan sure did a number on me.  :)  I was so tired I could hardly keep my eyes open!

I think though out of anything my favorite part of the meal is the dessert!  Seriously, sweets are my thing, I love sugar and candy, so when dessert rolled around I was very happy, and believe me we had a lot of it.  What is your favorite part of the thanksgiving meal?

1. I am thankful for wonderful fathers that love the Lord, and their families.
Dad was cutting up the turkey and he couldn't resist having a little snack while he was at it.
2.  I am thankful for precious time spent with friends and family.
They worked on this puzzle so hard ad didn't even finish.  It was sad.
3.  I am thankful for little boys that make me smile and laugh, like this one.
Little Bradley is quite the cowboy.  Him and Naomi get along very well.  hehehe.
 4.  for long fun conversations with dear sisters in Christ.  It was great catching up with the A. family.  :)
We had so much fun laughing and talking with these girls.
5.  For growing up sisters who get to be better and better at helping around the house all the time.
Lydia was very tired by the end of the day.
6.  For the time consuming art of putting together puzzles.  I am afraid I am not very good at it, I don't have enough patience to ever finish one.  :)
I think Charles was there at that puzzle most of the evening.
7.  For childhood buddies, that turn into life long friends.
These guys are so cute.  (Yes, Naomi is in this picture)
8.  For mama's that take care of and love you forever and always.  And cook awesome turkeys at thanksgiving.  :)
This turkey weighed 34 lbs.  It. Was. Huge.

I know, these guys were the center of attention that night.  :)
 9.  For precious babies, that grow into godly (in this case) young men.
Just to put your mind at ease.  No he is not dying, that purple stuff on his mouth is from 'gentian violet' and it is for thrush.  I can't believe how big he is getting!

I think that they were doing cheers here.  It was so cute to watch them.  :)
 10.  I am thankful that God provided the means for us to have a thanksgiving feast.  God is indeed good.
What is a thanksgiving day without sparkling cider anyway?
 11. For huge tables that everyone can fit around.  :)  Dad and Josiah built this table for mom last christmas.  It is pretty awesome!
This is our table picture.  Usually for thanksgiving we set the table really nice but we didn't do that this year.  I think it had something to do with not wanting to break anymore nice plates.  Hopefully we will do that for christmas.  I always love eating out of pretty dishes, it makes the food taste that much better.  haha.

He was drinking Apples Cider out of the bottle.  I had to get a picture.

Alan looks very creepy in this picture.  On a side note...  He did make some very yummy food for all of us!  It was delicious.
 12.  I am thankful for Dessert.  It has seriously saved me from having a complete mental breakdown.  Ok, so maybe I exaggerated a little but, ya know.
Robyn made a really yummy pumpkin pie.

Charles made this.  It was kinda like a fruit pizza but not.  It was really yummy!

Mama and Lydia made this. One of my personal favorites...  Lemon Meringue Pie.

Keziah and I made a cheesecake!  It was so yummy.  I don't know why I have never made one before.

My beautiful sis.

The A family!  Thanks so much for coming we had a fun time visiting and catching up with y'all!

13.  And last but certainly not least, I am thankful for Gods providence, I am thankful that He sent His son to die for us on the cross, and that He is in control.

Love,
Han

15And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.

Tea Tastes So Much Better When...

You drink out of something cute, right?

Which is why I drink out of.....

    Tea Cups.
Yes, every once in a while I like the comforting feeling of a mug in my hand on a cold winter night.

    But...

Most of the time I love the sophistication of a tea cup in my hand.  The rattle of china as you set your cup back down on your saucer....  It is just so romantic.  Why don't we drink out of these anymore?  I miss them.  We should make a tea cup come back.

I mean think about it.  They look so lonely and sad sitting up on that shelf getting all dusty.  Crying out for someone to use them more than just once  a year.  It's so sad.

And there ends my tea cup reverie.  Will they ever be used again in our everyday normal routine?...

    I don't know...

Love a very confused and bewildered,

Learn Something New Every Day. (Chocolate)

Is this totally making your mouth water or what?
    (picture taken from google)

Ok, I love chocolate, and I'm guessing that most of you out there do to.  And who would have thought that it is actually super good for you too.  Yay!  This is awesomeness.

1.White chocolate really isn't chocolate. It's made from cocoa butter, the substance you get by pressing cocoa beans. Cocoa butter is absent of the cocoa solids used to make chocolate.

2.Dark Chocolate has more antioxidants than green tea and just as many as blueberries.

3.Chocolate is beneficial for proper blood flow to the lungs and other organs.
4.The minerals in chocolate help to increase brain power and function.

5.Quality dark chocolate contains flavinoids which help reduced the risk of heart disease.

    Muffin Madness.

Last saturday my mom and dad took a trip down to....Corvallis?  I think it was Corvallis anyway.  Well that's beside the point, the point is that they went somewhere and did something and left us poor children at home.  :'(  So, my parents went somewhere and I had to make muffins for church the next morning.  They were really yummy so I thought that I would share some of the pictures of me making them, and the recipe just because they were super yummy, righteous mama muffins.  :)

    Nutmeg Streusel Muffins:
    Streusel Mixture:
    11/3 c. all-purpose flour
1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 c. butter or margarine, softened

    Muffins:
    2/3 c. all-purpose flour
    11/2 tsp. baking powder
    11/2 tsp. nutmeg
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2/3 c. buttermilk
    1 egg

    Directions:
Heat oven to 400 degrees F. In large bowl combine 11/3 c. flour and brown sugar; cut in butter until crumbly.  Reserve 1/2 c. for streusel topping.  In same bowl add all muffin ingredients to streusel mixture. Stir just until moistened.  Spoon into greased 12 c, muffin pan.  Sprinkle with reserved streusel mixture.  Bake for 18 to 22 min. or until lightly browned.  Let stand 5 min.; remove from pan and enjoy!  :)

    Pre-oven look.

Sadly my first batch came out looking quite deflated...  Sadness.  But they still tasted yummy!

Seth and I were joking around while we were waiting for the other batch to cook.

He was laughing at all my stupid jokes.  I like it when people do that, unfortunately I'm not very funny so it doesn't happen that often.  haha.  :)

Does anyone else think that this picture looks creepy?

    The deflated ones.

Fortunately all the batches after my first one looked PER-fect.  I was so happy!  :)

Hope you guys are having a great day!  God Bless!

Learn Something New Every Day. (food)

I had done these before, but because I love learning a little something new and interesting every once in a while, I thought that I would start sharing them more regularly.

    1. Chocolate contains psychoactive ingredients, which are known to make you feel good, but the only trouble is that you need to eat about 20 kilograms of chocolate to feel the buzz.

    2. Ginger is used to treat nausea and vomiting.

    3. Peppermint tea is good for soothing sore tummies and reducing feelings of nausea.

    4. To burn off one plain M&M candy, you need to walk the full length of a football field.

    5. If you put a raisin in a fresh glass of champagne, it will rise and fall continuously.

    Thanks for reading!

    Red, White, & Blue Dessert

I call this my 4th of July Dessert, it's actual name is "Strawberry Trifle" but where's the fun in that?  I love making this for Independence day 1. Because it is extremely easy(and yummy I might add), and 2. Because it is so patriotic!  I am going to disappoint all of you who want my recipe and not tell you, because if I told you, you wouldn't have to invite me to your parties to get to taste this, and then nobody would invite me anywhere...  and that would be sad.  :(  hehehe  I was up till 3 in the morning making these so don't judge my pictures.  :)

    Cool Whip....... Yum!

    Straberries. Even Yummier!

    Angel food Cake

    More Strawberries.

    Strawberries, and Angel Food Cake

The secret mixture that I'm not going to tell you the ingredients to.... hahaha

    another layer

see, it has patriotic written all over it!

    My masterpiece!

I know I kinda failed on the top..... Oh well, I heard that it tasted good anyway.  :)

Look at the baby one!!  Isn't it cute!  I made it for my neighbor for co-piloting for me on the way to the store. What a nuisance this permit is.

It's so beautiful, I think I might cry....

This is the second one that I made (no not at three in the morning) I think that it turned out much prettier than the first one!

    I love this pic!  <3

    Yum.

I made another baby one for the hostess of the 4th of July party!

Anywho, yummie!  I need to make these more often!  Everybody (well everyone that I've talked to) says that they are super yummy!
