I'm Letting Go: By Francesca Battistelli

I really, really like this song, it helps me to remember that I'm not in control, and that I need to let God lead me to where he wants me to be.

Francesca Battistelli Lyrics – I’m Letting Go Lyrics
"My heart beats, standing on the edge
But my feet have finally left the ledge
Like an acrobat
There’s no turning back
Chorus
I’m letting go
Of the life I planned for me
And my dreams
Losing control
Of my destiny
Feels like I’m falling and that’s what it’s like to believe
So I’m letting go
This is a giant leap of faith
Trusting and trying to embrace
The fear of the unknown
Beyond my comfort zone
Chorus
I’m letting go
Of the life I planned for me
And my dreams
Losing control
Of my destiny
Feels like I’m falling and that’s what it’s like to believe
So I’m letting go
Giving in to your gravity
Knowing You are holding me
I’m not afraid
Feels like I’m falling and that’s what it’s like to believe
Feels like I’m falling and this is the life for me"

3. The agent that gives Twinkies their smooth feel, cellulose gum, is also used in rocket fuel to give it a slightly gelatinous feel.
4.  More than $2 billion of candy is sold for halloween, more than any other holiday.

Random Facts of the Day

1.Each king in a deck of playing cards represents a great king from history:Spades - King David, Hearts - Charlemagne, Clubs - Alexander theGreat, Diamonds - Julius Caesar

2. If a statue in the park of a person on a horse has both front legs in The air, the person died in battle. If the horse has one front leg in The air the person died as a result of wounds received in battle. If the Horse has all four legs on the ground, the person died of natural causes.

3. In English pubs, ale is ordered by pints and quarts. So in old England, when customers got unruly, the bartender would yell at them mind their own pints and quarts and settle down. It's where we get the phrase "mind your P's and Q's"

Random facts of the day: Dreaming

I've decided that I want to do a random fact each day, but today, since this is the first one I am going to do a couple on dreaming.

1. You cannot dream and snore at the same time.
2. By the time we die, most of us will have spent a quarter of a century asleep, of which six years or more will have been spent dreaming—and almost all of those dreams are forgotten upon waking.
3. The average person has about 1,460 dreams a year. That’s about four per night.

Thats all for now,

A Couple of Crafty Gals

Well, Rebecca and I decided that we should put our brains together and start a new blog for all things crafty.  We are hoping to put all our sewing, knitting, Scrap booking, Crocheting, .....etc. on there.  Seeing as there probably wouldn't be very much to put on there if it were a one man blog it wouldn't probably work out too well, and we are interested in allot of the same things, so we hope to make it better by having to minds working on it at the same time. It is called "A Couple Of Crafty Gals."  the link is http://hannahrebeccagw.blogspot.com/.  So hopefully it works out and is very enjoyable, there is only one post right now since it was only made yesterday but we hope to be getting more up there shortly.

The Heavens Declare His Glory!

The other night I went outside and just had to get pictures of this beautiful sunset, this is truly the meaning of beautiful.  It reminded me of Psalm 19:1 "The Heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands."

This sunset was so beautiful I wish that I could have gotten the one of the night before also!

I really like how it got the rays of sun in there.

Later that evening.  I kinda looked like you were looking  at the streets of gold.

I Love this Kid!

I often times find it very difficult to fully appreciate my younger siblings, especially when they get into my things or don't listen right away.  But the other day I got to thinking that if I had to choose which one of them would I send back?  Despite all of the hardships, I wouldn't trade one moment that they have been here with me, and I am very thankful for each and everyone of them.  Here is just one little moment that I spent with my little brother Israel that made me laugh, and thank God that he is here with us.  (this kid can always make me smile, he is soooo... hilarious!) (he is 3). we were previously talking about my earache, I love little kid logic!!

Israel- Do you think I'm a baby Hannah?
Me- No, I you're a big boy.
Israel- Then you need to be a good sister.
Me- Why? Do you think that I am a bad sister?
Israel- yep...
Me- Why do you think that?
Israel- because you need to not have headaches!
Me- Oh, I'm sorry, its just hard to stop! I'll try harder!  I think that I would like that too.
Israel- yep, that is just not a good idea.
Me- I'll try not to.
Israel- ok, thats good because you need to be a good sister and not do that.

                                                            I LOVE YOU ISRAEL!

THE NEW ARRIVAL!!!!

Well we both survived and, Willow finally pulled through and ended up giving birth to her calf at around 7 o'clock last friday. We thought at first that it was a breech, but thank the lord it was only a partial breech, I ended up having to, before he was out halfway pull on his other leg so that his shoulders could get through the birth-canal so that he could slide out, and I had to pull on him the last time because she had stopped pushing, it was very gooey and slimy, but the miracle of birth is just so beautiful that I didn't really notice it until afterward, God is so amazing, and what could be more beautiful than bringing a life into this world! Unfortunately it was a boy, but I'm just happy that he is alive and well. I'm still not sure what we should name him, my mom threw hamburger out there but I told her that I waited too long and, had lost too much sleep over that calf to name him hamburger. The other bummer is that Willow ended up not being a very good mother and she has taken little interest in him, come to think of it he doesn't take any interest in her either, her likes me better than his own mother, I beginning to wonder who gave birth to who here? This means that we will definitely end up bottle feeding. I have some pictures of him, he is absolutely adorable!  (any name suggestions?  I had thought about Ferdinand, or Alfred?)
this is just after he was born

trying to get warm!  poor guy.

I just liked this picture, the funny thing was that I wasn't even aiming the camera

I love it when he sleeps!

Meal 2- Garlic Stuffed Sirloin

This meal has to be one of my favorites! I really liked how the meat was so tender and had excellent flavor.

INGREDIENTS:
1 tbl. olive oil
1/4 c. of finely chopped fresh garlic.
1/2 c. thinly sliced green onions
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 3 lb. boneless top sirloin steak, cut two inches thick.

1. preheat grill or barbecue
2. heat oil in a small nonstick skillet over low heat. add garlic and cook for 5 minuets, or until tender, stirring occasionally.
3. add onions, increase heat to medium-low and continue cooking for 5 minutes, or until onions are crisp-tender, stirring occasionally. stir in salt and pepper . remove from heat and let cool throughly.
4. trim excess fat from steak. make a horizontal cut through the steak, parallel to the surface, approximately 1 in from each side. cut to but not through the opposite side. spoon the cooled stuffing into the pocket, spreading evenly. secure the opening with wooden picks. (make sure you buy 2 inch sirloins for this because, I bought 4 1 inch thick sirloins and ended up having to stack two on top of each other and then securing them with shish kabob sticks, not fun. it turned out fine though)
5. place steak on grill on medium-low. cover grill and cook for 26-32 minutes for rare to medium, turning once. remove picks.
6. trim excess fat and carve the steak into 1/2 inch-thick slices.

Makes 6 servings.

To go along with this dish I also made a Spinach Saute. most of my brothers and sisters did not like this (meaning they didn't try it) simply because it had the word spinach in it. I don't know about others but I really like spinach when it is cooked right. Any-who,

INGREDIENTS:
2 tbl. olive oil
1 small onion chopped
2 garlic cloves minced
10 oz. fresh spinach rinsed and dried
shredded parmesan cheese.

1. heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
2. add onion and soutane until it starts to soften.
3. add garlic and spinach. saute just until spinach is wilted.
4. top with shredded parmesan and serve immediately.
Makes 4-6 servings.

till next time,
Hannah

Meal 1- Montreal peppered steak.

I didn't get a picture for this meal but it was very, very tasty! (my whole family agrees)

INGREDIENTS:
1/2 cup of olive oil
1/4 cup of soy sauce
4 tsp of montreal steak seasoning
2 lb. of sirloin or strip steaks.

1. mix olive oil and seasoning in a large resealable plastic bag or glass dish. Add steaks and turn to coat well. (for this a casserole dish works fine for those of you with bigger families requiring larger quantities.)
2. refrigerate for 30min. or longer for extra flavor. (I did mine over night.)
3. preheat grill
4. remove steaks from the marinade. discard any remaining marinade.
5. Grill over medium-high heat for 8-10 minutes per side, or until cooked to taste.

makes 8 servings.

I didn't get very creative with this one as it was my first and mom and dad had left earlier that evening so I just served it with salad. In my later posts I will have things such as side dishes and different 'new' salads (new to me at least.)

until my next post
I remain,
Semper Fidelis.

On CookBooks and Cooking

Yesterday I came up with the Idea that I would go through the Entrees in the cookbook " Cooking In Style, The Costco Way." cooking a different dish out of the book each week along with the side dish of my choice out of the cookbook also. I also was thinking that I would post each week what I cooked along with a picture. I wasn't sure if I should post the recipes or not? I was wondering what you guys thought about this idea, or if you think it would bore you too much? Do you think that I should post the recipe along with it?

~Thanks~

Photo Booth

We just recently got a new computer and we have been having lots of fun with the photo booth on it, so i decided I would post some of the pictures of us goofing off with the isight camera.

Starting Up Again!

It has been called to my attention that I have neglected to post anything on my blog! I have sadly neglected my blog, leaving it to fend for itself in this singularly uncertain world. No this will never do, I must not neglect my blog any longer. I have been inspired by some of you other devoted bloggers (andra) to again start working on my blog that I may again aspire to being a semi-great blogger! However for those of you that read my brother Josiah's blog I am afraid you will be sorely disappointed at reading my blog, for I never have been and probably never will be such a fine writer as he. I shall try to do my best in any event even if it means humiliating myself in the face of an accomplished writer such as my brother Josiah and others.
